The Yassifryer Chocolate Chip Cookie
A fair-food-fried chocolate chip cookie run through three escalating rounds of pure excess — hot honey baste, torched sugar crust, and a warm ganache mirror glaze studded with more chocolate. It's what happens when you take "make it look more delicious" and answer with an actual deep fryer instead of another prompt.

Now here's a project. I watched that whole thread scroll by — same poor cookie getting run through "make it more delicious" three times until it looked like it was sweating glass — and I thought, well shoot, why prompt that when a man's got a deep fryer and a torch sitting right there in the garage. So instead of software doing the lying, I'm doing the cooking: one honest brown butter chocolate chip cookie, battered up fair-style and actually dropped in hot oil, then run through three real "delicious passes" instead of imaginary ones — a hot honey baste, a torched sugar crust, and a ganache mirror glaze with chocolate chunks melting right into it. Each pass is a genuine technique, not a prompt, so by round three it looks just as unhinged as that last picture but you can still bite into it without your dentist calling me. This is the collaboration — man and machine both chasing "more delicious," except my version ends up in somebody's stomach instead of somebody's camera roll. Fair warning, it's rich enough to need a nap afterward.
Ingredients
Fridge
- 1 cup unsalted butter (cubed, divided)
- 2 piece eggs
- ¾ cup heavy cream
Pantry
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2¼ cup all-purpose flour (divided)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 cup semisweet chocolate chunks (divided)
- 8 oz dark chocolate bar (chopped)
- 8 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 1 cup cold club soda (cold)
- ¼ cup honey
- ½ cup turbinado sugar
- edible gold leaf flakes (for garnish)
Spice rack
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- flaky sea salt
Directions
- Cream butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in the eggs and vanilla.
- Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt, then fold in half the chocolate chunks until the dough just comes together.
- Pack the dough into 6 tight, dense pucks about 4 inches across and freeze on a tray until firm as a hockey puck, at least 30 minutes. ⏱ 30 min
- Whisk the cornstarch into the cold club soda to make a thin, bubbly batter, then dunk each frozen puck until fully coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil to 350 degrees in a deep pot and fry the pucks two at a time, about 2 minutes a side, until the shell is deep golden and the middle's gone warm and gooey. ⏱ 4 min
- Drain the fried cookies on a rack for a minute, then start pass one: melt the remaining butter with the honey and brush it generously over each hot cookie.
- Pass two: sprinkle the turbinado sugar thick over the tops and torch it until it crackles into a glassy caramel crust.
- Pass three: melt the dark chocolate with the heavy cream into a glossy ganache, then pour it warm over each cookie so it pools and drips down the sides.
- Scatter on the remaining chocolate chunks so they half-melt into the glaze, finish with flaky sea salt and gold leaf flakes, and serve immediately while the center's still molten.
